The two sentences seem to have almost opposing meaning; the first one says something nice about the clown, while the second one gives a negative opinion about the clown. So, there's lots of ways we could combine these two.
We could use a simple compound sentence like "The clown was nice, but I didn't think he was funny" or a complex sentence like "Although the clown was nice, I did not think he was funny". Just examples, there are many possible ways you could combine the sentences to have them make sense.
