The process, which is a chemical change is BURNING A MATCH.
In chemistry, there are two basic types of change, these are physical and chemical change. In physical change, no new material is formed and the process is reversible while in chemical change new materials are formed and the process is irreversible. In the question given above, the burning of match will result in a new product, that is, ash and the process is irreversible.

Yes. It undergoes a chemical reaction. Since you’re altering the chemical composition, it’s a chemical change.
The head of "strike anywhere" matches contain an oxidizing agent such as potassium chlorate together with tetraphosphorus trisulfide, P4S3, glass and binder. The phosphorus sulfide is easily ignited, the potassium chlorate decomposes to give oxygen, which in turn causes the phosphorus sulfide to burn more vigorously.
The head of safety matches are made of an oxidizing agent such as potassium chlorate, mixed with sulfur, fillers and glass powder. The side of the box contains red phosphor

Burning, by common definition, is an exothermic oxidation reaction. It begins by using friction to ignite a sulfur compound, which raises the temperature of the matchstick above the threshold for ignition..

What is the chemical reaction that occurs when stricking a match?
in a “strike anywhere” match, the match head is tipped with P4S3, which is easily ignited by the friction of striking the match
P4S3 + 8O2 yields 2P2O5 + 3SO2
this reaction gives the initial small flame or spark that ignites other easily combustible chemical elements or compounds embedded in the rest of the match head, such as sulfur (S), or antimonyy trisulfide (SbS3), along with oxidizing agents such as lead oxide (PbO2) and potassium chlorate (KClO3). Glue is used to serve as a binder for the entire mix.
i will leave it to the student to write out the simple reactions of the oxidation of S, an

How would you justify that the burning of petrol is a chemical change?
Chemical change is characterized by the formation of new substances, and the making and breaking of strong chemical bonds. And petrol is a long chain hydrocarbon, that is combusted with dioxygen to give (mostly) carbon dioxide, and water….clearly this satisfies the criteria of chemical change.

Is burning a chemical change? Is there a chemical equation for it?
YES! Burning (Or combustion) is a major chemical change, viz. oxidation. For hydrocarbons (paper, coal, wood, oil, gas, etc.) the primary products are water and carbon dioxide. Other (less desirable) combustion products are SOx, NOx, etc. The basic equations are 2H2 + O2 makes 2H2O, C + O2 yield CO2; and various other reactions can occur. You might want to pick up a freshman chemistry book to give you some guidance.

Why is the melting of wax considered a physical change as burning is a chemical change?
Melting is not the same action as burning. Melting is changing the wax from a solid to a liquid. Once the molten wax cools down, it is back to its original condition. When wax burns, the wax chemically combines with oxygen in the air, resulting in carbon dioxide and water vapor. You no longer have wax.
