When the first part of Stranger Things debuted back in May 2022, fans were left reeling by the hefty episode runtimes (as well as the Kate Bush remixes).

Now, the final two episodes of the split season have landed, and they’re even longer, with the finale exceeding the two-hour mark, which should hopefully give our heroes time to defeat this season’s resident villain, Vecna.

The episode runtimes aren't the only things to look forward to, with plenty of emotional moments and a load of entertaining action. Read our season 4 part 2 review here.

Shawn Levy, the show’s director, recently teased what fans can expect in part 2, telling Entertainment Weekly: “I’ll just tell you, as great as volume 1 is, volume 2 is extraordinary. I can’t wait for the world to react to volume 1, knowing that they have such rich episodes to come in just over a month.”

Stranger Things season 4 part 2 will be released on Friday 1st July 2022.

If you're desperate to tune in, check out our explainer on Stranger Things season 4 part 2's release time here.

This comes just over a month from the release of the first part of the season.

Season 4 was pushed back from an original 2021 release in the wake of COVID-19, as David Harbour (Hopper) revealed during an Instagram Q&A, but with the full season in the can we can safely assume that the two final season 4 episodes will arrive on schedule.

How many episodes are in Stranger Things season 4 part 2?

There are only two episodes in Stranger Things season 4 part 2, after the first seven aired in part 1.

However, fans don't need to fret too much that they won't be getting enough of their Stranger Things fix - both episodes are feature-length, with episode seven clocking in at 1 hour and 25 minutes and episode nine lasting a whopping 2 hours and 19 minutes.

The latter will be far and away the longest episode of the show ever produced, with it coming in longer than some cinema releases.

While part 1 is made up of seven episodes, part 2 only features two episodes.

The runtimes are pretty epic, though, so fans needn't worry about missing out on action.

What are the Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 episode titles?

Episode 8 is titled Papa, which seems to be hinting at Eleven’s backstory.

Meanwhile, episode 9 is more mysteriously titled The Piggyback. We'll have to wait for more information on this one.

Netflix released a trailer for the second part of Stranger Things 4 on Thursday 9th June 2022.

The footage teases a further confrontation between Vecna and Eleven in the final two episodes.

Additionally, it seems the teens in Hawkins are in some serious danger once again with Lucas Sinclair and Max Mayfield appearing in peril.

Finally, Jim Hopper looks set to spring back into action in the instalments. Will he be reunited with Eleven?

    Catch the footage above.

Will there be a season 5 of Stranger Things?

Yes, Stranger Things season 5 has already been confirmed.

The series has already been confirmed to return for a fifth and final season, which will wrap up the central story the show's been telling since 2016 (before any heavily-alluded-to spin-off series emerge).

    Stranger Things volume 2 trailer

Stranger Things season 4 volume one left Eleven, Will, Mike and the team on a cliffhanger. But when does part two arrive and what happens to Vecna?

Stranger Things season four spoilers follow.

The beginning of the end of Stranger Things has finally landed with an absolutely jam-packed season four. And the best bit? It's not even over yet.

In fact, we're only two-thirds of the way through (or one 'volume' depending on who you ask) and now we're flipping ourselves upside down as we impatiently wait for the final two episodes to drop.

Thankfully, compared to the painful three years it took for Stranger Things season four to appear back on our screens, this time it's returning within a comparative blink of an eye.

But we have to be careful what we wish for, because it comes with a catch.

Here's everything you need to know about the new season.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 release date: When is it on?

Stranger Things part four volume two will launch on July 1, 2022 – just six weeks after the mid-season finale.

It's also a bit different in structure to the first half, coming in at only two episodes in length.

But boy, are they going to be massive. It's been confirmed that the penultimate episode is going to clock in at 85 minutes in length, while the finale is going to be a staggering two-and-a-half hours long.

That's enough to make Marvel wince.

So get cosy, cook a mountain of Eggos and get ready to watch an episode so long it would make Christopher Nolan blush.

Whatever happens will pave the way to the upcoming confirmed season five – which is also the last in the series as the Hawkins adventures finally come to a conclusion.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 trailer: Is there any footage yet?

Why yes there is! Netflix dropped a new trailer for volume two on Tuesday, June 21.

The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported.

Refresh the page to resume playback.

"I know you're afraid," whispers Dr Brenner (who still hasn't explained how he survived death by demogorgon in season one, by the way, don't think we hadn't noticed), "You're terribly frightened by what you've seen," he mutters.

Well yes, Marty, yes we are. It's kind of the point.

So begins the trailer for season four volume two, which, to the epic and inevitable strains of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill', teases the titanic struggle ahead for Eleven and her pals as evil mind-warper Vecna tries to take Hawkins (and the world?).

From the looks of it, Eleven will soon depart the underground laboratory – sooner than Brenner would like her to ("You're not ready") – because her friends in Hawkins are in trouble and can't fight Vecna alone. (Strong "You are not ready to face Darth Vader" vibes with this one, we are getting.)

As the trailer plays out, they team are all getting tooled up: Sadie Sink's Max has her trusty Walkman, while Eddie's (Joseph Quinn) own personal Excalibur appears to be his metal guitar, which would seem appropriate, if not very useful. Nancy's (Natalia Dyer) got an actual shotgun, Hop (David Harbour) has an Uzi, and it seems Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) only needs to use his sledgehammer fists, at least when it comes to battering his former jock buddies into jam.

But king of them all is surely Murray (Brett Gelman), newly equipped with a Massive Effing Flamethrower.

The thrilling edit of all this action concludes with an enormous fireball dwarfing the tiny figure (El?) in front of it as Vecna taunts that "Your friends… have lost."

Something tells us that Vecna is a little premature with that claim, and that the newly re-powered Eleven will do her Freddie-Mercury-hand-gesture/scream combo and inflict some serious psychic damage before the day is out. We'll find out on July 1...

It's not the only trailer. As part of Netflix's Geeked Week, the streaming service treated us to a 30-second teaser of what's to come.

Naturally, it doesn't give much away, except we know that Hopper and Joyce's adventures in Russia will result in them discovering a secret hold of alien-like creatures in tanks.

Then in a rush of flashing images, we see all of the main gang in mortal danger as they explore the Creel House and the Upside Down... so whether their fates are sealed or not remains to be seen.

Only a couple more weeks for us to discover what happens next, and what it all means.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 cast: Who will be in it?

As it stands, all the major players are due to continue their efforts to stop Vecna and close the Upside Down for good.

This includes stars Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will) and Sadie Sink (Max).

The cast of Stranger Things return for the season 4 finale.

Stranger Things season 4 isn't over yet. Set six months after the gang's showdown with the Mind Flayer at season 3's climax, season 4 took the characters and faced the demon Vecna in a battle across four locations, including Russia and California. It was awesome, not least for introducing a new generation to Kate Bush. So when is season 4 part 2 arriving?

It's not just the cast that's spread out. The season itself is too. Stranger Things' fourth season is split into two parts -- similar to Ozark's final season -- with the first seven episodes dropping on May 27 and then the second volume with two episodes, each apparently movie-length, hitting Netflix on Friday, July 1.

    Stranger Things episode release schedule

The two volumes of Stranger Things' fourth season drop around a month apart.

If you're in the UK, Vol. 2 can be watched from 8 a.m. BST. Those in continental Europe will have to wait till the show drops at 9 a.m. CEST in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. If you're in Australia, Stranger Things launches at the perfect time: 5 p.m. AEST.

Stranger Things is a show set in 1980s Hawkins, Indiana. It kicked off with the disappearance of local kid Will Byers, which resulted in a whole lot of confusion and conspiracy. It turns out that the nearby Hawkins National Laboratory has, in searching for the perfect weapon to end the Cold War, been messing around with the supernatural. It somehow broke through to a demonic dimension called the Upside Down, which unleashed monsters like demogorgons and, ultimately, the Mind Flayer.

The lab is also experimenting on kids who seem to have special powers. One of them, dubbed Eleven, escapes and joins Will's group of friends -- Mike, Dustin and Lucas -- and helps rescue Will. Eleven gets adopted by town police chief Jim Hawkins. Happy ending? Not quite. Read this if you're not up to date with all the Hawkins happenings leading into season 4.
