Based on the teasers and the trailers we've seen so far, Stranger Things 4 is set to follow four different storylines in several different locations.

In Hawkins, we see Dustin, Steve, Robin, Lucas, Max, Nancy and Erica team up to investigate the creepy goings on in town to do with the Creel House. New character Eddie Munson joins them, and at some point, they end up in the Upside Down.

In California, there appears to be two storylines at play. One involving Eleven and Dr. Owens, presumably focusing on her getting her powers back, and the other involving Mike, Will, Jonathan and new character Argyle who get caught up in the danger at the Byers' new house.

And then finally, there's the Russia storyline involving Hopper, who is currently stuck in a Soviet prison, and Joyce and Murray who look like they're about to try to go and rescue him.

With everyone so spread out and dealing with different threats, it's unclear how (or even if) they will all end up in the same place at the end of the season... we'll just have to wait and see!

COVID has delayed so many things from our lives, but one of the most heartbreaking setbacks was Stranger Things season 4. Good news, then: after nearly three years, the show is finally back, and scarier than ever.

The fourth installment of the hit Netflix series takes place over spring break, six months after the epic battle against the Mind Flayer at Starcourt Mall. The Byers and Eleven no longer live in Hawkins and have settled in sunny California, far away from the rest of the gang. As the group is separated for the first time, they have to deal with both PTSD and the difficulties of high school, all at once. Meanwhile, an even more horrifying supernatural threat is emerging that is sure to mess with the gang even more than before.

Now that Stranger Things Season 4 is more a reality than a far-fetched dream, here’s a quick guide on when it will be available to stream, so that you don’t miss a single episode.

Stranger Things season four is split into two parts, with the first half premiering on Friday, May 27, and the second half on Friday, July 1.

Following Netflix’s standard release procedure, Volume One of Stranger Things Season 4 will be available to stream at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET on May 27. Volume Two will follow five weeks later on July 1 at the same time, so you’ll have plenty of time for an immersive Stranger Things summer.

Stranger Things season 4 is the show’s biggest season yet, as its runtime is nearly twice the length of its previous seasons (though that’s in episode length, not number of episodes). There are nine episodes total, with seven episodes premiering as part of Volume 1, and the final two episodes premiering as Volume 2. After this monster of a season, all there is left is the fifth and final season.

We can expect to see all of our favorite original characters returning to our screens. From the looks of the official posters, they’ve all split into different groups. The first group has David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, and Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman. The next group consists of Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, and Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair. The last group will follow Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, and newcomer Eduardo Franco as Argyle. And as always, Millie Bobby Brown will be leading the cast as the beloved Eleven.

The last time Eleven, Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Max, Nancy, Joe, Robin, Jonathan, Joyce and Jim were on our screens, it was July 2019 — no one was thinking about stocking up on masks and toilet paper.

In less than 24 hours, that’s about to change with the release of the fourth season of “Stranger Things” ... Vol. 1.

Here’s an overview of what to know, including why the episodes are being rolled out in two separate installments (one this week and the other later this summer).

The hugely popular Netflix series returns at a dark time for the streamer, following company layoffs and the loss of 200,000 subscribers. But the mega-hit is poised to get people’s attention going into Memorial Day weekend.

“Stranger Things,” which debuted in 2016, drew 582 million “view hours” in its third season, Netflix says of the show, which has been nominated for the Emmy for best drama series three times.

From left: Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, and Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair in the fourth season of "Stranger Things."Netflix

What is happening in ‘Stranger Things’ season 4?

Having trouble recalling where the show left off in the third season?

The new episodes take place six months after the Battle of Starcourt, the showdown with the shadowy force from another dimension at the ’80s-fabulous Hawkins mall.

And the usual gang is living apart, with Eleven having moved to California with Joyce, Will and Charlie, separating her from Mike and the rest of the crew. At the same time, the team of young heroes has to scale another daunting mountain — high school.

As always, a supernatural element enters the picture to shake things up even more — “a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down,” Netflix teases.

Winona Ryder returns as Joyce Byers and David Harbour as “Sheriff” Jim Hopper, who was last seen in a Russian prison camp.

Fans will also see regulars Priah Ferguson as Erica, Brett Gelman as Murray, Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner, Cara Buono as Karen (Mrs. Weeler), Rob Morgan as Chief Powell and John Reynolds as Officer Callahan.

New this season is Robert Englund — yes, Freddy Krueger himself — as recurring character Victor Creel.

Here’s the final trailer for the coming season of “Stranger Things,” released Monday.

For those who want to a bit of a spoiler, this week Netflix released the first 8 minutes of the fourth season premiere of “Stranger Things,” prominently featuring Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner in a flashback to 1979. ********* scenes are bloody, depicting violence and the death of children.
