John Augustus Roebling, who died in service as a result of an accident, constructed the bridge. The "Opening Ceremony Statement of the Brooklyn Bridge" was given by Governor Seth Low on 24 May 1883.
Edna Dean Proctor, the American poet, was born in NH in 1827. Her poetry frequently describes sites on the east coast of the US. It was released in Proctor's 1890 poem series, "The Brooklyn Bridge.
