My ex-wife, Melissa Lawson was the winner of Nashville Star in 2008 on NBC and prior to that in 2005 competed on American Idol (she made the top 32 at the time). The answer to your question is absolutely, yes! Every competitor has to sign a contract with the show and the production company as well as the sponsoring record label: Warner Brothers at the time. In the contract it states that the label has the first right of refusal on the top 5 finishers of the show. However, the “prize” (A “**guaranteed**” record deal and other things) is only reserved for the person who wins. That said, many of

Yes, money does make you happy.
And you have to accept it.
There was this guy, Kishore. A very good friend of mine. We were similar in so many ways. He was a newly commissioned fighter pilot, flying a sophisticated jet aircraft.
His first salary was around 85,000 INR, and on top of that he got 2,65,000 INR more as arrears and other bonuses soon after commissioning. And then, the fun began. He bought a new bike, a new television, surround sound speakers, a bar cabinet which was stacked with best possible alcohol.
This made him very happy.
So, he went ahead and bought fancy biker jackets, biker shoes

All the contestants probably make the same amount. That show is just a giant karaoke contest. The winner is determined by politics, not by who has more talent.

Quora, like most US Startups, started out cash negative for years. Fun fact: One of the keys to success for the American startup system is investor patience.
Investors often incubate companies for years, avoiding a rush to monetization which often results in half-baked products that aren’t ready for market. This is what cripples startup systems in many countries.
This patience allowed Quora to steadily build a userbase, get feedback, test ideas, and above all, refine the product.

Each season, the winner of American Idol takes home hundreds of thousands of dollars and gets to sign a music contract to record original music. Since American Idol premiered on Fox in 2002, this franchise has been a launchpad for the careers of several music superstars with #1 hit songs, best-selling albums, multimillion-dollar net worths, and fans around the world. The series has crowned winners such as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, and Phillip Phillips, to name a few. Alas, even runners-up like Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert, Katharine McPhee, and David Archuleta went on to have very successful careers as well.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAYEver since the first few American Idol winners until the most recent ones, it's always been a huge deal for aspiring singers to win this competition before kickstarting their careers. During the years when American Idol aired on Fox, the show was mostly judged by Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul. New configurations to the judging panel included big names like Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Keith Urban. But since the series was revived at ABC, it has featured judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Additionally, behind the scenes, there have also been a few changes as to how finalists and winners are compensated.

American Idol's Current Age Limit For Contestants
As reported by Blast, the contestants who go on to become American Idol winners end up taking home $250,000. However, cashing in this prize money isn't as straightforward as winning another reality competition. According to reports, the contracts signed by American Idol winners stipulate that they sign a recording contract with Hollywood Records. This label, like the ABC network, is a company owned by Disney. The winners then receive $125,000 when they start working on their album, then another $125,000 once they finish the album. In turn, a runner-up could win as much as $175,000, but that value is also separated into two parts of $87,500.
Getting to the top of an American Idol season is a huge challenge that only a few contestants have managed to conquer. However, there are plenty of professional and monetary rewards for those finalists. Once an American Idol winner signs a contract with Hollywood Records, they reportedly have four months to turn in their album. They are also given a budget of $300,000 to work on the album, but that is an "advance" that needs to be paid off once the album does come out.
It isn't easy for a contestant to stay in the competition on American Idol, but surviving the music industry is yet another beast that these aspiring singers must slay. On the other hand, it is not too bad to win the show, make some money, record your debut albums, and established a big fanbase from your exposure on national TV.
