    - The respiratory system can correct acidosis (too low pH of the blood) by increasing respiratory rate and depth to eliminate more CO2 from the body. Doing this causes more H+ ions not to be free but to combine with HCO3- to make H2CO3 which then makes more CO2 and H20 at the lung. The CO2 is then removed from the system leaving only water. All of the other options would cause more H+ to remain in the body thus making the blood more acidic.
