Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has finally been released and many are reliving the semi-comedic synopsis of the legendary franchise. The massive amount of content and stories give players hours and hours of gameplay to satisfy their Star Wars itch.

With players getting their hands on the game and returning to the series, many are wondering if customization is back in the intergalactic Lego-themed adventure.

Is there character customization in Lego Star Wars?

The Skywalker Saga offers a franchise-wide range of content, with nearly 400 playable characters and over 100 pilotable starships. This is no small number and gives players the chance to play as their favorite characters or use their favorite ships on their adventures through the galaxy and free-play.

In previous titles, players had the opportunity to create their own characters. This customization offered a large number of presets including clothes, weapons, hair, and more.

Unfortunately, character customization has not made a return.

While this is underwhelming news that it does not make a return, TT Games added a lot to the game in its place. The implementation of the Kyber Brick upgrade system still gives that unique feel and desire to unlock more content. There are a lot of different classes within the game too, including Hero, Jedi, Dark Side, Villain, Bounty Hunter, Scoundrel, and Protocol and Astromech Droids.

This vast variety content provides many hours of playtime to unlock if desired, and even though custom characters do not make a return there are a lot of different ways to play and have fun. Like the official site says, “The galaxy is yours in Lego Star Wars.”

With a new mod, players are finally getting a feature that was missing in the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga game. The Lego Skywalker Saga has been a popular title since its release earlier this year. The game has had its issues, like completely misunderstanding the Revenge of the Sith plot, but that does not stop people from enjoying it to its fullest and this mod will likely add to that enjoyment.

Modding games is a popular way to bring new and exciting content to games of all types. There are countless mods that talented creators have made for added gameplay, cosmetic purposes, and functionality purposes. Some mods add such depth that it creates an entirely new feeling and style to the game and have added on hours of gameplay for fans who want to explore the world even more.  Some modders even add things to the game that fans have begged the developers to include for years. Though the LEGO: The Skywalker Saga is a new title, fans were quick to express their opinions on things that were lacking in the game. Some of these were minor tweaks, but others were major additions to the game.

LEGO Star Wars: Best Things To Do After Beating The Game

Modder jedijosh920 noticed one of the major things that were lacking in LEGO: The Skywalker Saga and decided to do something about it. As reported by The Gamer, jedijosh920 is currently working on a PC mod that makes the characters customizable. Thanks to a video on jediosh920's YouTube account, viewers can see what types of customizations might be available if this mod becomes available to the public. Each character can be randomized using different shirts, pants, faces, and headpieces that are all from iconic characters in the game.

The lack of customization was a major complaint from fans and is likely caused by the time crunch that The Skywalker Saga developers experienced, but hopefully, now fans will be able to customize their characters in a way they see fit. The idea of seeing Jar Jar Binks wearing Sith robes or Kylo Ren wearing Jedi robes is something that many fans would be excited about and can hopefully become a reality thanks to this new mod. As the character customization was a major part of the previous LEGO titles, it is unsurprising that fans were upset by the decision to leave it out. There has not been any mention from TT Games as to whether or not they plan on adding in this customization later on or not so fans will likely turn to mods if they do not.

Hopefully, TT Games decides to include full character customization to The Skywalker Saga so players on all versions of the game can experience it. Currently, most mods are only available for PC and are not usually something console players can enjoy. This character customization mod looks like a fun way to get the most out of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and will hopefully be available to the public soon.

It's confirmed that the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be missing a fan favorite feature seen in previous games.

Fans of the LEGO video games have gotten used to new titles in the series coming out on a near-annual basis, so it's been an especially long wait for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Luckily, the wait is nearly at an end, and soon those who have been looking forward to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga can play through LEGO versions of the entire main series Star Wars film franchise with over 300 characters to choose from.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has over 300 characters for players to select come launch, but there are those who would rather mix-and-match the characters to make their own unique creations. Previous LEGO games have allowed players to customize characters by mixing and matching parts, and so it was assumed by some fans that the feature would return in the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Unfortunately for those hoping to see character customization in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it seems that the feature will not be in the game come launch.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga PC System Requirements Confirmed

This was confirmed by the TT Games Twitter account, responding to a tweet from an interview in 2019 between TT Games designer Mike Consalvey and HipHopGamer. In the interview, Consalvey seems to confirm that character customization will be in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but the TT Games Twitter clarified that plans changed during development. Sometime between the 2019 interview and now, the decision was made to cut character customization, though an exact reason why wasn't provided by the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga developers.

Hi! We'd like to address this point directly. This interview was from 2019, and sometimes features change throughout development.

We can confirm that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga doesn’t have character customisation, but we do have 300+ characters for you to choose from.

    — TT Games (@TTGames) March 24, 2022

Some fans may be disappointed to learn that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will not have character customization, but the bright side is there will be no shortage of characters to choose from. Besides the 300+ LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga characters that will be available in the base game, even more playable characters will be added as DLC. And as a matter of fact, the curtain has already been pulled back on what fans can expect from LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC characters.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga DLC will largely revolve around Star Wars media outside the main series films, with DLC packs based on The Mandalorian, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and more. So anyone left unsatisfied by the 300+ characters in the base game will be able to expand their roster in due time.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga launches April 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
