Lego games have always been known for their couch co-op action and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is no different. You can watch our final preview with the game to see if you're ready for more Lego antics, but if you have a co-op partner at home then you probably already have your answer. While you can't add another player into The Skywalker Saga right away, it doesn't take long by any means. Here's how to play co-op in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga co-op
After hitting start on the main menu, you will be brought to the Episode Select screen. Choose the episode where you and your partner would like to play to load up the action. Turning on a controller on this screen won't allow you to do anything outside of accessing system functions, but you can get it out and ready for the next screen.

You'll need to wait until you have control of your character before your partner can join, which means you have to enjoy Lego's signature, silly cutscenes. Once any cinematic magic is finished playing out, hit Start on a second connected controller to add your friend into the brick-based action.
After hitting start on the controller, your game will move to split-screen and giving you both the power to fight against--or for--the dark side. The Skywalker Saga looks to be a much bigger game, in terms of both content and number of missions, which should make it a good and lengthy co-op adventure.
Whenever player two is done playing, just hit start on their controller and make your way over to Drop Out at the bottom of the pause screen. Selecting it will remove player two from in the game, and provide a full-screen view to player one once again.
Does Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga have online co-op?
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga does not support online multiplayer of any kind, so make sure your friend isn't in a galaxy far, far away before making plans to take on the galactic empire together. Perhaps online support could come in a future update, though this has never been a feature in previous Lego games, so it would appear unlikely. The Skywalker Saga did face delays and crunch during its long development, but who knows if future, additional features are planned along with the paid DLC, which has already started to see release. Regardless, it seems like Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is packed with features and unlockables that should keep everyone busy for quite some time.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga allows the franchise’s fans to dive deeper into the nine episodes and visit all the iconic locations in the process.
You may start feeling lonely as you explore the 24 planets in the game, making you wonder whether you can go through all the adventures in the game with a friend. While you can enjoy the game in a couch co-op setup, you’ll need help from third-party software for an online multiplayer experience.
Despite featuring a great gameplay experience, most Lego games lack multiplayer compatibility, making local co-op the only option if you’re looking to play with your friends.
The couch co-op way
If the second player is sitting right beside you, you’ll need to do the following to play multiplayer in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Launch Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Connect a second controller and turn it ion
Press any button on the second controller, and you should be able to continue your journey in co-op mode
The online multiplayer way
With Lego games missing online features, players won’t be able to invite their friends to a session as they’d normally do in games like Fortnite or League of Legends.
There are alternatives, however, and third-party tools like Parsec allows players to host sessions and invite others to join them. Both parties will need to run the same program and here’s how you can create a lobby.
Install Parsec
Launch Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Open the Parsec app and choose Arcade

After hosting a session, you can invite your friends
If you don’t want anyone else to join your session, you’ll need to make your session private

After speculation about Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga getting online co-op after launch, one reporter has indicated that won't be the case.
Yesterday on March 24, the official TT Games Twitter account replied to a user asking about the possibility of online co-op in the forthcoming Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Unfortunately, the developer's Twitter account shot down the query surrounding online co-op, stating that the upcoming Lego game would merely have local co-op for split-screen players.

This has led plenty of fans to speculate that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga might get online co-op further down the line. You need only look at Twitter to see fans voicing their disappointment over the lack of the feature in the new game, and hoping that it'll be added at some point in the future.

However, according to reporter Jack Yarwood, that won't be the case. Yarwood, who previously reported on extensive crunch at TT Games through development of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (via Polygon), poured cold water on the possibility of online co-op being added in post-launch, revealing that it was originally cut during development as the project sped towards launch.

While development reportedly continued on multiplayer after the feature was axed, Yarwood also states that "the belief internally was this additional work wasn't even directly related to Skywalker Saga, but to produce a network demo" to prove the ongoing viability of the studio's unreliable internal engine, NTT.

Yarwood seriously doubts online co-op will ever come to The Skywalker Saga, and for good reason. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is set to launch early next month on April 5, across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles alike, bringing all nine mainline Star Wars movies to blocky Lego action.
