    Key points

Congress has not yet authorized a fourth stimulus check.

Millions of Americans are on track to get one in June anyway.

Money could come from state stimulus programs, or from a federal fund for homeowners.

Across the country, many Americans are hoping for a fourth COVID-19 relief check. Although Congress has not taken action to make one available, millions of people will still be getting a payment this month. That's because some states are sending out money to their residents, and the federal government has also provided funds to offer financial relief to struggling homeowners.

So, who exactly is on track to receive another payment this month? Here's what you need to know to find out.

Residents of these states will see money in June or in the coming months

Two states are currently scheduled to send out stimulus payments to their residents in June: Maine and New Mexico.

In Maine, payments will be available to those who filed their 2021 state tax returns. The checks total $850. Single filers are eligible with an adjusted gross income of less than $100,000 while married joint filers can get payments with an AGI of up to $200,000. Those who are claimed as dependents are not entitled to receive money.

In New Mexico, payments are also expected to be sent this month. Single filers are entitled to $250 and joint filers are entitled to $500. A second payment for the same amount will be sent out in August. This money will be provided to those who submitted tax returns by May 31 and the payments will be sent automatically.

Several other states are also considering making stimulus funds available, although there is not yet any guarantee this will occur. The money likely would not hit bank accounts in June even if legislation is passed to authorize payments this month, but could come during the course of the summer. These states include Minnesota, Colorado, Kansas, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania.

Some homeowners are also entitled to financial relief

Some homeowners could also get financial help this month. This could come from the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF). The American Rescue Plan Act set aside almost $10 billion for homeowner relief, and more than 40 states have now set up HAF programs to facilitate the distribution of the funds. The funds will be distributed to the states by the Treasury Department.

Money from HAF can be used to help with mortgage payments, home insurance costs, utility expenses, or other "specified purposes." Those who are interested can check the Homeowner Assistance Fund website to find out if they are eligible and to learn how to apply for funding.

Between these state programs and HAF, millions could soon be entitled to money from the government to help them cope with the ongoing financial consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Be sure you understand how to claim your payments if you could be entitled to this important financial relief.

Stimulus checks worth 850 dollars will be going out directly to residents in the state of Maine, United States, this summer in order to combat the effects of inflation.

All over the U.S., families are being hit hard by the rising rate of inflation that is a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The inflation rate did actually drop slightly in April, but it has not differed much from the 40-year high rate of March 2022.

Maine is no exception to the hard times and, in order to combat it, Governor Janet Mills has decided to give back half the state budget surplus in the form of direct payments.

"We have shown once again that through hard work, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents can come together to do what is right for Maine people - and that we can do so without the rancor or bitter partisanship that has divided Augusta in the past," said Governor Mills.

"We may not be able to control inflation or global markets, but we can make sure that Maine people have what they need to grapple with these rising costs - and that is what we are doing. Today, I am here to say to Maine people: help is on the way. You are our greatest asset - and this budget delivers for you."

Residents in the northeastern state will have until October 31, 2022, to file a 2021 state tax return and claim their direct payment.

Who will get these direct payments in June?

In order to become eligible, a 2021 Maine individual tax return must have been filed by the aforementioned date. Those who have already filed a tax return do not need to take further action.

Only full-time Maine residents are eligible and they must have had an adjusted gross income of less than 100,000 dollars if single, 150,000 dollars if filing as a household, or 200,000 dollars if filing jointly as a couple.

Checks will be mailed in the first week of June 2022 and after that, they will be sent on a rolling basis through to the end of the year as people's tax returns are filed.

The stimulus gods have rolled the dice again, and this time the lucky recipients live in the state of Maine. Residents there are in line for a relief check as soon as June, now that Gov. Janet Mills has signed a $1.2 billion budget into law.

Among other things, its features include funding for eligible individuals in Maine to get $850 checks, while the average household would get $1,700 in relief payments. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at who’s eligible for the payments. Which, by the way, are going out to around 858,000 people in the form of mailed paper checks (as opposed to direct deposits).

    Relief check coming in Maine

On Friday, April 22, the Mills administration set up a website, Maine.gov/reliefchecks. There, people can go to get answers about the payments. Among the key details to know:

Eligibility depends on filing a 2021 Maine individual income tax return by October 31, 2022, as a full-time Maine resident.

Those eligible must have a federal adjusted gross income of less than: $100,000 if filing single or if married and filing separately; $150,000 if filing as head of household; or $200,000 for couples filing jointly.

Importantly, unlike many other stimulus programs including those at the federal level? Maine’s effort here, which Mills proposed and which got near-unanimous approval from the state legislature, is coming out of a state surplus.

Specifically, these relief check payments are expected to return half of Maine’s budget surplus ($729.3 million) to, as the governor’s office has said, “an estimated 858,000 Maine people grappling with the increased costs as a result of pandemic-driven inflation.”
