    Not being a Republican or Democrat and in the cause of brevity, I would say that the basic difference is that one Party holds closer to the Constitution than the other. One Party holds to the idea, contained in the Constitution, that the US government should be more limited to the thirty, articulated, authorities and responsibilities and the other does not.

    Article #10 of the Constitution says this, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
