To use MobileTrans to transfer contacts from Android to Android, follow these steps:

Download and install MobileTrans on your computer. After successful installation, launch the program and then select the “Phone Transfer” feature on the main window.

Now, connect both Android devices to the computer using USB cables and make sure that MobileTrans can recognize both devices (You may have to enable USB debugging for the program to detect the devices).

It is also important to make sure that you have the order of devices correctly. Ensure that the device you want to transfer contacts from is the “Source” device, and the one you want to transfer contacts to is the “Destination”. If this order is not correct, click on “Flip” to change it.

Once the devices are both connected, and MobileTrans can detect them, you should see a list of all the data on the source device displayed between the two devices. Select “Contacts” and then click “Start” to transfer the contacts from the source device to the destination device.

Please note that if you want to replace the contacts on the destination device completely, check “Clear data before copy” before beginning the transfer process.

Part 2. How to transfer contacts from Android to Android with a SIM card

    If the SIM card you have on your device is removable, you can easily use it to transfer contacts to a new device by simply copying all the contacts to the SIM card, inserting it into the other device, and moving the stored contacts. Here’s a simple step by step guide to help you do that;

Open the “Contacts” app on the source Android device and then tap on “Menu” (the three vertical dots at the top)

Select “Manage Contacts” from the options that appear and then tap “Import/Export Contacts”.

Tap “Export Contacts” and then select to a SIM card

When all the contacts on the device have been transferred to the SIM card, remove the SIM card and then insert it into the destination device

Open the Contacts app on the destination device and go to "Menu > Manage Contacts > Import/Export Contacts" and then select “Import from SIM Card.”

Keep the devices connected to the computer until all the contacts are transferred.

You will be able to see the transferred contacts on the destination device in a few minutes.

Part 3. How to Transfer Contacts from Android to Android via a VCF file

    If your SIM card is not removable or you have too many contacts on your Android device to justify transferring them one by one, you can easily move them from one Android device to another via a VCF file. This process is particularly useful since you can transfer all your contacts at once as an email attachment. Follow these simple steps to transfer contacts from Android to Android using a VCF file;

It's easy to transfer contacts between Android phones. Antonio Villas-Boas/Insider Reviews

There are two ways to transfer contacts from an Android phone to another Android.

You can sync your Android contacts to a Google account and then log into that account on the other Android.

You can also transfer your contacts into a vCard file, and then move the file onto your other Android.

If you're changing phones, you don't need to leave your contacts behind. It's incredibly easy to transfer your contacts from one phone to another — especially if they're both Android devices.

Here are two ways to move your contacts from one Android to another.

How to transfer contacts from one Android to another Android

    Using your Google account

The easiest way to transfer contacts is to use your Google account.1. On your old Android, open the Settings app and tap Accounts.

Open your "Accounts" menu. William Antonelli/Insider

    2. Select the Google account that you intend to use on the new Android.3. Tap Account sync or Sync account.

Depending on your device, this can be called either "Account sync" or "Sync account." William Antonelli/Insider

    4. On the page that opens, make sure that Contacts is enabled. This will make sure that all of your phone's contacts are saved to the Google account.

Toggle on the "Contacts" option. William Antonelli/Insider

Now when you log into that Google account on your new Android phone, all of your contacts will transfer over.

    Using a vCard

vCards — also known as .VCF files — are packets of data that are specially made to carry contact information. Nearly every phone can read them, which makes them perfect for moving your contacts.

    1. On your old Android, open the Contacts app.2. Tap the three dots in the top-right and tap Select all.

Select all of your contacts at once. William Antonelli/Insider

    3. Tap the sharing icon, which looks like three dots with lines connecting them. Your contacts will be compiled into a single .VCF file.

The sharing icon is at the top of the screen. William Antonelli/Insider

    4. Choose where you want to send the .VCF file. You can choose any option you like as long as you can access the file later on your new Android, but we recommend sending it in an email to yourself.5. On your new Android, download the .VCF file.6. In your new Android's files app — it might be called Files, Files by Google, or something similar — find and open the .VCF file.7. You'll be asked if you want to import the contacts. Tap Yes or OK.

Find and import your vCard file. William Antonelli/Insider

Your contacts will be loaded onto the new phone.

Android gives you a few options for transferring your contacts to a new device. By default, everything should be synced when you set up a new device, but even if sync is disabled, it’s easy to move your contacts over.

The Easy Way: Sync With Your Google Account

Almost all Android devices sold outside of China come with Google services, including the ability to synchronize your contacts between devices. This should be enabled by default when you sign in with your Google account, but here’s how to make sure. We’re writing this guide using a Pixel 2 XL running Android 9.0, but it should look similar on other Android devices. We’re also using the stock Google Contacts apps, which you can download from the Play Store. These steps may not be the same on other Contact apps, so if you’re having issues, we recommend using Google Contacts.

Start by opening the Settings app and tapping “Accounts.”

    Tap your Google account.

    Tap “Account Sync.”

Ensure that the “Contacts” toggle is enabled. It must be on for your contacts to synchronize.

That’s it! Your existing contacts will synchronize with your Google account, and they’ll be there on any new Android phone you sign into.

The Manual Way: Backup and Restore the Contacts File

If your phone doesn’t offer Google services—or if you just want to copy things over yourself—you can back up a .vcf file that has all your contacts inside. Start by opening the Contacts app, then select the menu icon in the upper-left. Again, we’re using the Google Contacts app here.

    Tap “Settings” on the menu.

Tap the “Export” option on the Settings screen.

Tap “Allow” on the permission prompt. This will give the Contacts app access to the photos, media, and files on your Android device.

By submitting your email, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Tap the “Save” button in the lower right.

You can move the .vcf file to your new phone by copying it to a USB drive, transferring it to a PC, or your favorite cloud service. When you get the file moved to the new phone, open the Contacts app again. Tap the menu icon in the upper-left.

    Tap “Settings” on the menu.

Tap “Import” on the Settings screen.

Select “.vcf file” in the window that pops up.

Browse to the .vcf file from your previous phone and open it.

Your contacts will import to your new phone, and you can start calling and messaging your favorite people.
