Much of Jamaican prehistoric research—like that in the rest of the Caribbean basin—has been guided by at least a subconscious attempt to allow prehistoric native peoples to find their places within the charts established by Irving Rouse, who guided Caribbean research for much of the last half-century. The pre-Columbian peoples of Jamaica, and not merely their material culture, are beginning to take form, revealing their lifestyles and rituals, and taking their rightful place among the cultures of the New World. Pre-Columbian Jamaica represents the first substantial attempt to summarize the prehistoric evidence from the island in a single published account since J. E. Duerden’s invaluable 1897 article on the subject, which is also reprinted within this volume. The book is designed to provide general commentary that can stand alone and be read as a continuous narrative; and as an additional and valuable resource is the accompanying CD-ROM that furnishes a great range of further illustrations, data, calculations, measurements, and comparisons. This data is curated at the Archaeology Laboratory at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, in Kingston, and was presented to the university by Dr. James Lee in 2000. His gift, and the comprehensive study that followed, provide the impetus for both the book and the CD-ROM.

    Overview

The player will be given a pickaxe and a uniform and will be sent to mine. To mine, the player must select a block and select 'Mine'. The player will then automatically use the pickaxe to hit the block several times. Each swing of the pickaxe takes 1 second. After the block has been mined, the player will receive money and EXP according to the rarity of the block.

The player cannot mine the bordering walls and bedrock of the quarry.

Players can also mine TNT blocks. Once mined, a TNT block will hiss for a few seconds before exploding and destroy all blocks within its area. It will also kill the player if they are within 2 blocks of the TNT when it explodes. TNT can be used to the player's advantage as it can easily destroy an entire section, allowing the player to dig deeper. Blocks destroyed by TNT still count towards the player's shift earnings.

Once the player mines down low enough, they will hit bedrock and either find a way out by mining and/or using TNT or pressing "end shift" once to teleport to the top.

    Types of Blocks

There are six types of blocks that can be mined.

    Trivia

The old uniform came from an old Roblox mining game called "BLOX co. Mining [FIXED] v2.5" The outfit was used as a VIP gamepass.

This is currently the only job where players can die.

    The mine has dimensions 12x12x50.

Once half of the blocks have been mined, the shaft will regenerate.

This is the only job where you can teleport to somewhere without ending the shift.

This is the newest job to be added to Bloxburg.

There was a glitch that made the miner's helmet disappear, making mining very difficult. This glitch has since been patched.
