Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War has launched and many players are experiencing error messages when trying to get online.

This is not uncommon, error codes and messages have plagued Call of Duty titles over the years, especially during high traffic periods.

We’ve compiled all the known error codes, what they mean, with an explanation if there’s any action you can take to fix it.

There are two main types of error. Number 1 is when there’s a fault on Activision’s side, and number 2 when there’s a fault on the player’s side.

95% of the time, it’s an issue on Activision’s side.

Having the same issue. Everyone says resetting the router works but I can't do that since I'm in an apartment building that has control of the internet/routers.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Game worked first launch but after restarting it I can't play.

Edit: I just finished rebooting both my PC and router and the game is fine now.

Same rebooting router fixes it. Using a Netgear D6400 router. Had it during beta as well - happens whether crash or just exit normally. Its weird because as far as I know there is no peer to peer with the game on PC.

Okay guys, after fighting with the router and the game I found a way to fix it, at least for me.

Go to your router settings on your browser and disable UPnP, restart the router. Here I cleared Battle net cache but I don't know if it's necessary. Then try to play.

EDIT: 2nd day, doesnt work, tried again with my solution but didnt work. Downloaded a free VPN called TunnelBear and it works, the only bad thing is I have around 10 more ping and this VPN only gives 500mb every month.

EDIT 2: Windscripe VPN has 10 Gb and doesnt fuck up discord

The issue seems to be very specific, or at least it does in my case. During the blackout beta, I was not able to connect at all and I was getting the fabled potato error code (Sedately Whopping Phony Potatoes as opposed to Negative 4xx Silver Wolf). Fast forward to now and I still cannot connect. I have found that the only way I can connect is through my mobile hotspot. I have tried forwarding ports and even putting my PS4 into DMZ mode through my router gateway. I am fairly confident that there is an issue between some ISP's and the Call of Duty servers. I am having a difficult time finding any information on this because no one seems to know what the actual problem is. I suggest you try your mobile hotspot if possible and whether or not that lets you connect. If you can connect, then you are in the same position as many others who are having this problem and it is not a very good solution in the case of limited data. I do not know if the issue is mainly on the ISP's part or Activision's part but either way, it is a very frustrating problem that I cannot seem to solve. If anyone has any information on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Exact same problem here. I've tried every method listed above and still no fix. I wasn't able to get on last night but I was able to connect to the servers briefly this morning but only for an hour until my wifi went down. Now it's back to the same error message. This has to be something to do with the COD servers not being compatible with some modem/router models which is completely ludicrous and needs to be fixed from their end asap before they lose a lot of customers. I hope they release a patch to this issue really soon because I pre-ordered this game 2 months ago and I can't even play it. I couldn't even play the beta because I got a similar error code (whopping potatoes or something like that). Come on Activision, DO SOMETHING!
