Emily in Paris, a popular American comedy-drama series, was renewed for a third and fourth season just weeks after its second season premiered. The sitcom stars Lily Collins in the starring role of a marketing executive from Chicago who is offered a position in Paris.

Darren Star, the showrunner, has developed a Netflix series that is full of humour and binge-worthy drama. When it comes to her high-maintenance job at Savoir, juggling her friendships, and becoming engaged in a new love triangle with Gabriel and her British classmate, Alfie, things don’t always go as planned for Emily as she adjusts to her new life in Paris.

Darren Star discussed Emily’s romantic life in the future with TV Line. “She has to make a big decision. At the end of Season 2, she has reasons to choose one of several doors, and our task is to figure out which one she will choose and why. Emily has extremely strong feelings for Gabriel which makes working for Sylvie in Paris a difficult decision because she will be compelled to be around Gabriel and Cami’s relationship.”

Emily and all of her Parisian friends, including her bestie Mindy (Ashley Park), Julien (Samuel Arnold), Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Luc (Bruno Gouery), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), and Camille (Camille Razat), will return in the third season.

So, Emily in Paris season 3 is definitely happening?

Oh yes. We officially get to indulge in not one, but two more seasons of Emily in Paris. In January 2022, Netflix shared the news on Twitter along with a photo of leading lady and producer Lily Collins, announcing that the fan-favorite series has been renewed for a third and fourth season.

This content is imported from twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Lily previously expressed how much she'd love to come back for a third season: "I hope viewers find more of themselves in different characters and feel seen and represented in the show," she told Glamour in a December 2021 interview. "And I hope that we get a season three because I really hope we get to come back and do this again."

In a December 2021 interview with People, Lily also dished about how the third season can play into the major cliffhanger viewers saw at the end of season 2. "I myself don't know her choice yet. I keep asking," Lily told the outlet. "But whatever choice it is you know it will be filled with drama, fashion, and a lot of fun and romance. I am down for whatever decision comes my way if we get to do it."

Per People, Jeremy O. Harris — who guest-starred as Pierre Cadault's nemesis, Gregory Elliott Dupree — said that he'd love to see the fashion designer stir up more drama in season 3: "Now that he stopped being Pierre Cadault's nemesis maybe he can be his ally, creating chaos for Emily. Also, I think Gregory needs a boyfriend — there are so many cute boys on the show! If someone that Emily or anyone else doesn't want, is around, I feel like Gregory would be a great candidate to scoop them up."

Even before the third season was picked up, costume designer Marylin Fitoussi revealed that she already has ideas for a potential wardrobe. "My dream for season 3 would be to recycle costumes from season 1," she told Elle. "I don't know if we can do that, but I'm dreaming to bring some of Lily's most iconic outfits to the recycling workshop and see what they can do and recut and make."

When will Emily in Paris Season 3 be released?

There's no telling when season 3 will be released just yet. However, Lily and Ashley Park — who stars as Emily's BFF Mindy — just confirmed on Instagram that filming for season 3 has commenced. "Reunited in Paris! Let season 3 filming begin!…," Lily captioned her post. Ashley uploaded the same picture, writing, "those Americans roaming Paris again yayyyyy! @lilyjcollins 🤍 #emilyinparis." It's been a few months since season 2 of Emily in Paris hit Netflix and it was filled with amusant fashion, catchy songs, steamy romance and of course, loads of drama.

At the end of the second installment, Emily (Lily Collins) is left feeling torn, both professionally and romantically. At work, Emily’s dream career is threatened when her boss, Madeline (Kate Walsh), and her mentor, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), get into a heated argument over how their business should be run. Sylvie ends up quitting to start her own marketing firm, and she asks Emily to stay in Paris and join her instead of heading back to Chicago to move up the corporate ladder. The episode ends on a cliffhanger: Emily calls Sylvie to let her know she's made her decision ... right before the credits start to roll, bien sûr!

To make matters more complicated, Emily is stuck in a love triangle between her new boyfriend, British banker Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and her neighbor, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). After Alfie reveals he has to return to London for work, he suggests they try a long-distance relationship. Meanwhile, Emily decides she's still in love with Gabriel. But when she shows up at his apartment to confess her love, she discovers that Gabriel and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Camille (Camille Razat) are on-again — and moving in together.

So, will Emily return to Chicago or stay in Paris? Will she give long distance with Alfie a go or try to start things up with Gabriel again, despite her friendship with Cami? Here's everything we know so far about the fate of Emily in Paris season 3.

Will there be a season 3 of Emily in Paris, and what will it be about?

Only two weeks after Emily in Paris season 2 premiered, Netflix officially renewed the dramedy for seasons 3 and 4 in January 2022.

Given the runaway success of seasons 1 and 2 (it was the most popular original comedy on Netflix in 2020, with 58 million people watching it during its first 28 days on the streaming platform), and the fact that season 2 was in the Netflix Top 10 when it debuted, many predicted there would be a third installment. In fact, showrunner Darren Star already opened up about what season 3 would entail. He revealed to TVLine in December 2021 his hopes that the third season will explore the challenges of making a difficult choice:

    Advertisement - Continue Reading Below

“She’s faced with a major decision. She has reasons to pick a number of doors at the end of Season 2, and our challenge is deciding which of those doors she’s going to choose and why. That’s what Season 3 is going to be about. When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is, where’s your heart? Is it the place you came from, or the place you are at the moment? Emily is going to be struggling with that as well.”

Before Netflix green lit Emily in Paris season 3, Darren hinted in a December 2021 interview with Elle that he was "looking forward to a third season," while also noting that he had a "very strong idea" of what Emily chooses:

"There’s no choice that’s gonna make everything better and please everybody. And I think Emily also is … a bit of a people pleaser, and she’s gonna make a decision that’s gonna make some people unhappy. And she’s gonna have to deal with that also next season."

In other words, fans can expect to finally learn what's next for Emily's love triangle, and whether or not she decides to make the leap to Sylvie's company and continue her expat life in France.
