Editor's note: The below article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the biggest movie of the year, and fans have been able to experience the full potential of the Marvel multiverse. The film sees Benedict Cumberbatch return as the master of the mystic arts as he goes on a multiversal adventure with America Chavez and battles a corrupted Scarlet Witch. Like nearly all MCU films, Doctor Strange 2 features multiple post-credit scenes, and we’re breaking it all down for you.

The film features two scenes after the end of the story. The first scene is a mid-credits stinger setting up more of what to expect from Doctor Strange in the future. We see Stephen walking down the street when he suddenly comes face-to-face with Clea, played by Charlize Theron (F9). This marks Theron’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut and serves as the live-action introduction to the Dark Dimension’s Sorcerer Supreme.

In the comics, Clea and Doctor Strange meet during a conflict with the villain, Dormammu, and the two fall in love and eventually get married. We know that Strange defeated Dormammu in the first film, and so as the two embark on a new adventure, we have to assume that either the villain has escaped or they’ll face an entirely new conflict. This scene will likely lead into Doctor Strange 3 or whenever we see Cumberbatch don the Cloak of Levitation once more. Charlize Theron recently shared the first official look at her character via her social media.

Doctor Strange 2 continues the trend we’ve come to expect from Marvel and their post-credit scenes. The first will usually tease a future installment, while the second is a fun Easter egg or callback for fans. After all the credits roll, the second scene is an excellent callback to a moment earlier in the film.

The final scene sees Bruce Campbell’s character, Pizza Poppa, return, and Strange’s spell finally ends. Earlier in the film, when America Chavez accidentally steals pizza balls, Poppa gets into an argument with the two travelers. This resulted in Strange casting a spell that had Pizza Poppa punching himself for days. As the post-credits scene plays out, Campbell can finally rest and simply exclaims, “It’s finally over!” The screen fades to black and reassures fans that Doctor Strange will return. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is directed by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead franchise) and shows us the Marvel universe(s) in a way we’ve never seen before. The events of WandaVision and Spider-Man: No Way Home come into play when Strange must fight to save all of reality from being destroyed. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo), Benedict Wong (Wong), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), and Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez).

Raimi’s horror roots manage to bring a unique style and feel to this Doctor Strange film. On top of that, we learn of the multiverse and how real the dangers of a multiversal collapse. The Avengers protect the Earth, the Guardians of the Galaxy fight for the stars, and the Sorcerers of Kamar-Taj fight against supernatural threats. Traveling through the multiverse is a challenging endeavor, and only a few can fight against this threat, which leads the Sorcerer Supreme (and Doctor Strange) to try and maintain order.

Doctor Strange has fought against the Mad Titan, the overlord of the Dark Dimension, and the Scarlet Witch herself. Where will the master mystic arts go next? We can’t wait to find out.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Every Marvel movie needs a crazy cameo, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has plenty to go around. The Sam Raimi-directed sequel boasts a whole pantheon of heroes, both familiar and new, and it primarily focuses on Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer as he teams up with interdimensional newbie America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) to face off against the all-powerful Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

As Strange and America zip through a seemingly endless list of universes, they cross paths with several notable faces, both heroic and otherwise. But Multiverse of Madness saves one of its wildest cameos for the very end.

The film has two end-credits scenes, both featuring starry names. The first, which comes about halfway through the credits, has a bigger impact on the rest of the multiverse. The scene follows Strange as he steps out onto the streets of New York. There, he comes face to face with a surprising figure: Charlize Theron, wearing a delightfully purple superhero suit.

Per the credits, Theron is playing a comics figure named Clea, and as she walks up to Strange, she tells him: "You caused an incursion, and we're going to fix it." He doesn't seem to know her, but she knows him, and together, they step through a portal, heading off toward another adventure.

Earlier in the film, both Stephen and the audience are introduced to the concept of an incursion — Marvel's term for when meddling with space and time causes two universes to crash into each other and collapse. In another universe, an alternate version of Dr. Strange causes an incursion while trying to defeat Thanos; as punishment, his allies in the Illuminati sentenced him to death. It remains to be seen exactly which universe(s) Clea is referencing, but whatever the consequences are, it can't be good.

As for Clea herself, she isn't exactly a marquee Marvel name. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, she made her comics debut in 1964, and she's a powerful magic user from the Dark Dimension. Like Strange, she takes on the title of Sorcerer Supreme, and she also happens to be the niece of Dormammu (the big bad of the first Doctor Strange movie, the one that Stephen came to bargain with). In the comics, she's a powerful ally to Stephen, and eventually, the two fall in love.

No word yet on how Clea and Stephen might get along in the MCU, but Theron's casting is big news. The Oscar-winning actress is no stranger to big, bombastic franchises like Mad Max: Fury Road and The Fate of the Furious, but her appearance marks a star-powered addition to the MCU. We'll have to wait and see exactly when and where Theron might pop up again, but the Multiverse of Madness end credits promise that "Doctor Strange will return," so we might be seeing her sooner rather than later.

The second end-credits scene has lower stakes, but it's still delightful. You can't have a Raimi movie without a Bruce Campbell cameo, and Campbell delivers, popping up earlier in Multiverse of a Madness as an alternate-universe pizza vendor named Pizza Poppa. (In his universe, pizza doesn't come in triangles but in bite-sized-ball form, which, sure.) After a confrontation, Strange lays a temporary curse on Campbell's character, causing him to frantically punch himself in the head. (Bruce Campbell: Always fighting against his own hand!) In the end-credits scene, however, the curse finally wears off, and a relieved Campbell turns to the camera and tells the audience to go home, Ferris Bueller-style.

Campbell and Raimi have a long history together, going all the way back to the Evil Dead franchise, and the actor appeared in all three of Raimi's Spider-Man films. If Raimi comes back for another Marvel movie — which he's previously said he's open to considering — there's a good chance that Campbell might be making yet another cameo sometime soon.

    Doctor Strange 2 Post

Charlize Theron has posted some new behind-the-scenes pictures of her time on Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Strange 2 Post-Credits Scene: New Video Shows More Looks at Clea

By Russ Milheim May 14, 2022

Audiences met quite a few new faces in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The first and most important is undoubtedly Xochitl Gomez’s Multiverse-hopping America Chavez. Then, of course, there was the entire Illuminati, which was composed of members such as Black Bolt and Reed Richards. Just when fans thought they might have been done with introductions, however, that post-credits sequence landed: Charlize Theron’s Clea had arrived.

The fateful moment happens as Doctor Strange is casually walking down the street. She appears, opens up an entrance to the Dark Dimension, and tells the hero that he caused an Incursion—and she intends on fixing it.

With how quick the scene was, audiences didn't get to spend much time with the character. Now, thanks to some new behind-the-scene images, fans can get a little more acquainted with her appearance.

    Better Look at Clea

Actress Charlize Theron posted a new video to Twitter showcasing the look of her new character, Clea, as seen at the very end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The character’s costume is quite unique, perfectly giving off the same rippling effect that her uncle Dormammu himself displayed in the first Doctor Strange film.

A view from below gives a better look at the circular patterns on her legs.

Her cloak seems extremely detailed, while the shoulder pads are certainly something.

The Future of Clea and Doctor Strange

So where will Theron's character go next? Well, in the comics, she has a familial bond with Dormammu himself—so audiences are more than likely going to be reacquainted with the immensely powerful being.

Does this mean that he might be involved with the incursion drama? Will he lend a metaphorical hand to help out?

There are certainly a lot of questions to be had. What is clear, is how Clea is undoubtedly going to play a big part in Strange’s life going forward. Not only is she generally an important part of his lore, but she also is one of the character’s biggest love interests.

With Multiverse of Madness having given Stephen some closure with Christine, maybe the sorcerer can finally find a way to move on. What better way to do that than jump into the dark dimension with one of your biggest enemies’ niece?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters worldwide.
