I built a base in the Mushroom Forest to try and find Cyclops fragments with the scanner room. I saw an option for a "Reaper Leviathan" and I scanned for it and found one a couple hundred meters from my base. I immediately packed up my things and left that godforsaken area.

Will it say that every time a Leviathan is nearby? Because at this point in a new biome I inch along terrified of being attacked lol.

Nope, 1 time thing. You better watch your back...

Only when you enter the sand dunes. I've accidentally wandered in there the first time I played when I got a Seamoth. There's some good stuff down there though.

Have you been to the Dead Zone yet? Out of all the places where you need an audio warning of where you are, that's the place. Sadly, you only get one the first time, just like everywhere else. After that, the only warning you get is..

    5 level 1 mjacobl · 4 yr. ago

I heard that. Get all paranoid and swing the seamoth around to look and the swirling effect, from the seamoth, makes me jump.

    13 level 1 deicide666ra · 4 yr. ago

You can manage to aggro 3-4 of them in that area :) Fun times. Not dangerous if you know what you are doing though.

    35 level 2 [deleted] · 4 yr. ago

I have no idea what I'm doing lol

Came there with a seamoth , barely constructed my first base, was not about to be turned into a sushi roll

According to the wiki, 8 of them patrol that area.

i was in the mushroom forest, and i needed air, i got to the surface and received THAT. But, i found nothing, finding nothing was even more terrifing than actually finding something ):

    2 level 1 SnooCrickets968 · 2 mo. ago

"I'm too scared to look down, so I'll just turn back with my seamoth, and go back." I was in that area for ten seconds, but it still have me a heart attack, and I got jumpscared by a reafback.

    2 level 1 [deleted] · 4 yr. ago

I wasn't so lucky, got out of the Aurora and foolishly swam to the right side instead of the left , got attacked by 2 reapers and almost lost my fully upgraded seamoth lel

Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region. Are you certain whatever you're doing is worth it?

    ― PDA, Dialogue

The Dunes is a biome located west from Lifepod 5, on the edge of the map, bordering one of the Grassy Plateaus, Sea Treader's Path, one of the Safe Shallows, both of the Blood Kelp Zones, the Northwestern Mushroom Forest and the Crater Edge.

There are three Wrecks within the Dunes. One can be found near the Northwestern Mushroom Forest, having seemingly slid down the sandy dunes from the forest. Another two, smaller wrecks are also found in the Dunes near the Sea Treader's Path border.

A large sinkhole can be found southwest from the larger wreck. The Dunes Caves are found within along with a Cuddlefish egg, located right in the center of the sinkhole.

This biome also harbors a crater from a meteor impact, close to the border with the Northern Blood Kelp Zone.

Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material.

    Description

The Dunes features vast, sandy plains and dunes, sometimes littered with various types of rock structures. It is also home to many dangerous types of Fauna, the most notable one being the eight Reaper Leviathans that patrol the open spaces of the biome. These leviathans and the PDA summary of the biome heavily discourage players from entering the biome.

Gasopods can be found, alongside their eggs, near the several hydrothermal vents in this biome. Most of the Flora and Coral is also located near these, alongside Lithium and Rubies. Reaper Leviathans often wander close to the hydrothermal vents so tread carefully.

Four Sea Crowns are located within the sinkhole of this biome. It is recommended to approach the sinkhole with caution, as there is a Reaper Leviathan that is always close to it.

Even in the daytime, the Dunes are quite dark and murky, making it difficult to see threats. It is recommended to keep track of where the Reaper Leviathans reside and give those areas a wide berth.

If building a base in the Dunes, a Scanner Room is incredibly useful. Not only can it be used to scan for resources, but it can also be used to keep track of the Reaper Leviathans in the vicinity. This is especially effective with a Scanner Room HUD Chip.
