100,000,000,000 blades of grass p sq km, if we assume every sq km of land 148,300,000 sq km has grass at this density(it doesn't, just roll with me for a second) we get 1.48300e19 blades of grass, but again this far exceeds the actual amount of grass on earth.
There are around 5,000,000 hair follicles on a human, multiply by 7,000,000,000 for 3.5e16 hairs for the human race. I don't think it's much of a stretch from there to assume that combined with all other haired creatures on earth the number of hairs vastly exceeds even our outrageous grass count.
Obviously there's a lot of assumptions and averaging here but I think it puts the question into perspective enough to arrive at a pretty solid conclusion.
edit: missed a decimal

You can subtract about 4,500,000 hair follicles for me.

There are also a lot of hairy animals out in the world. In fact there are almost 1 billion goats alone. Think about how much hair they would have.

Where did you get that 100,000,000,000 number?

That's not even counting hair on some animals. Also if you count fur the number gets much bigger. So it is safe to that there is far more hair than grass.

Does the land area account for elevation?

The human population has increased sharply the last century or so. When did the hair catch up with the grass?

I don't think that's a fair assumption. Grass is still 1,000x the hair count. I think grass would win out here.

Remember animals also have hair!

Some researchers in a collaboration between NASA, NOAA, and some academic institutions have estimated "potentially 163,812 km2 (± 35,850 km2) of land are cultivated with some form of lawn in the continental United States." http://www.isprs.org/proceedings/XXXVI/8-W27/milesi.pdf.
If I went outside and counted the number of blades of grass in a square meter, and then assumed this was representative of all the grasses included in the estimate above we could figure out roughly how many blades of grass exist in the continental US. However, after a short search I haven't been able to find an easy way to estimate the number of blades of grass in the entire world. It may be helpful to look at just America first, I don't know.

Probably hair? No facts but an educated guess.

https://www.reddit.com/r/estimation/comments/1sxo7e/how_many_blades_of_grass_are_there/ Gives a good estimate on how much grass there is in th world. There are 1.4 billion cattle in the world http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2011/11/03/141946751/along-with-humans-who-else-is-in-the-7-billion-club Each has a hair density of 20/mm giving us a total amount of hair on cattle of around 6.0144*1016 hairs, about 2% of what we need. There isn't a lot of data on the number of hairs on insects. But if I had to take a wild guess I'd say they probably average around 100 hairs per insect. This gives us 100 trillion-1 quadrillion hairs from insects depending on what number in the insect range estimate you use. This is .1% or 1% of the total we need.
Conclusion: if we assume that the first link is correct on the number of blades of grass on earth, it does not seem reasonable to say that hairs outnumber blades of grass. There simply aren't enough large animals with significant amounts of hair, the most populous animal, the cow, produces only 2%, only sheep come close to the population but would have nowhere near enough hair to make it possible for the rest of the species to pick up the slack. It is possible that insects have more hair on average than what I used, but it is unlikely given the fact that some are hairless and almost all of them have less than 10cm2 of surface area. If I had to take a wild guess is say that, at best there are half the number of hairs on earth as there are blades of grass Grass>hair

Forget about doors or wheels. A new argument is sweeping social media, and it might be even more strange. This week, people all around the world were arguing over the same odd question: Is there more door or wheel in the world?
A Twitter user posed the inquiry, which went viral, and the debate then grew heated on TikTok as people became divided and could not reach an agreement. Now there’s a fresh argument pitting people against one another on the internet. Here we go again… Is There More Grass Or Hair In The World: Forget Wheels Or Doors.
Grass Or Hair Debate Goes Viral
A new question has emerged from the viral wheels or doors debate: Is there more grass or hair in the world? Internet users are arguing whether there are more blades of grass or hair follicles in the globe, and it’s generating a lot of commotion.
It’s a question you’ve probably never considered in your life, and the answer is impossible to determine, which is what makes it so fascinating.
Thankfully, this one is simpler than wheels or doors because there’s no argument about what constitutes a wheel and a door. On TikTok, people are bickering about the solution, although there appears to be a clear winner.

People Are Convicted It’s Hair
With one individual stating, most people are convinced that the solution must be hair: “At first I thought grass ’cause like the world is big but myself and the dog would have more hair than grass at our house so now I’m team hair. When does this end?”
“Ok next debate… are there more grass needles or hair follicles in the world? I vote hair follicles. Think of all the animals and hair all over one’s body,” said another.
A third person added: “Someone just argued blades of grass vs strands of hair and I’m losing my mind over it. It’s gotta be hair bc 7 billion people not to mention all the animals and human hair wigs? Like do barbie dolls count?”
With 7.7 billion people in the world (who almost all have hair) and green spaces disappearing at a rapid rate due to urbanisation, the logical answer certainly does seem to be hair – but we’ll never know for sure!
